Belarus-Qatari political relations

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the State of Qatar were established on January 16, 1996.

From 2001 to 2008 and from 2010 to 2018 the ambassadors of the Republic of Belarus to the United Arab Emirates were accredited as a non-resident ambassadors of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Qatar. At present the Ambassador of Belarus to Qatar is not appointed.

Since June 29, 2014 the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the State of Qatar has started its work.

In November 2019 the Embassy of Qatar started its work in Belarus. It is headed by Charge d'Affaires.

A political dialogue and regular exchange of highest and high-level bilateral visits have been supported.

On February 17 – 19, 2001 the state delegation of the Republic of Belarus headed by H.E. the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has paid the official visit to Qatar.

In 2009 the reciprocal official visit of H.H. the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the Republic of Belarus took place.

On August 15 – 16, 2011 the second visit of H.E. the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the State of Qatar took place.

In April, 2016 at the summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization the meeting between H.E. the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and H.H. the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was held in Istanbul.

On October 29 – 30, 2016 the third official visit of H.E. the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the State of Qatar was held.

In April 2007, Minsk has hosted the first round of the consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Qatar. Other rounds of consultations were held in Doha in April, 2015, in Minsk in November, 2019 and in Doha in September, 2021 and in January, 2024.

On 13 October 2022 the President of Belarus and the Emir of Qatar held a meeting on sidelines of the summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.  

In 2025 Prime Minister of Belarus and Minister of Defense of Belarus paid official visists to Qatar. 

The sides are currently working on organizing other bilateral political events.
