National Day / 2016 – year of the 20th anniversary of Qatari-Belarus relations

Each year strategic regional partner and close friend of Belarus – Qatar – is getting stronger and flourish even in economic crisis times. I’m confident that Qatar deserves the best and, thanks God, it’s really one of the happiest countries in the world, due to its friendly and noble nation and wise leaders. With my sincere congratulations on the National Day of Qatar I wish it to stay forever in peace, safety, wealth and happiness.

For me it’s a great pleasure to congratulate our Qatari friends specifically this year because the Republic of Belarus and the State of Qatar have celebrated the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two friendly countries, which were established on February 16, 1996.

Last years these relations became truly strategic and close. Our commitment to Qatar is obvious – just in October 2016 we had successful visit of H.E. the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Qatar. The Joint Intergovernmental Committee and Business Council sessions, more than 10 important mutual visits on ministerial level in different fields, opening of big new-built Qatari investment project – Falcon recreation and Marriott hotel complex in Minsk took place this year – as well as our traditional every day deep cooperation in security, investments, legal, political and sports spheres. We treat Qatar as a “Gate” to the Gulf region and as our traditional ally as well as truly friendly nation – with no-visas regime and close people-to-people contacts and friendship.
